The Victoria Cross was awarded to Arthur Stewart King Scarf, Squadron Leader of 62 Squadron, RAF in action over Malaya on 9th December 1941. He died at Alor Star Hospital, Malaya on the same day and is buried at Taiping War Cemetery, Malaya.
