Graysons Football Team

Jim Salthouse was apprenticed as an engineer and the last two years of his apprenticeship were spent with H & C Grayson Ltd., Shipbuilders and Engineers of Liverpool.  The picture above presumably was taken between 30 August 1915 and 3 October 1917. Jim is not known to have played football so he must have known the apprentices and employees in the picture. The writing is in Jim's own hand. Salthouse Gallery

H & C Grayson Ltd Liverpool

This is Jim's reference from Graysons, dated 3rd October 1917, when he left to enter the Merchant Navy.

On the enlarged heading, below, you can see the official stamp on the letter, which reads:

"Controlled Establishment, Munitions of War Act, 1915"

Doug and Cathy Salthouse

This is a picture of my Uncle Doug and Aunty Cath Salthouse at our wedding in 1984, It's not the best of photographs as they appear to be squinting against the sun. Salthouse Gallery
