This damaged photograph
was taken at Ditton, Lucy Salthouse is standing at the back on the left,
Jim, Janet and a lady holding a dog are in front - is the lady Janet
Salthouse nee Braidwood? On the right we think it is John Braidwood
Salthouse and Esther Rouse, perhaps the occasion was their engagement?

Today, 25th September 2004, Barbara,
David and I visited Nether Alderley for the open day at St Mary's Church.
Brian Hobson, the verger, had the greatest surprise for us, he had found -
in a garage - the original shop sign from when Annie Salthouse kept the
shop in the village. Here it is, considerably more than 98 years old,
"Annie Salthouse, licensed to sell tobacco & snuff"! My
great-great-aunt's shop sign. Amazing. Salthouse
