We have just found this picture of the Kota Gede amongst dad's pictures, on the reverse dad wrote "Over 2,000 airmen escaped from Java to India on this small cargo ship. Feb 27th 1942". "This little cargo ship saved me from being a prisoner of war in Java on Feb 27 1942. Kota Gede (Dutch) left Tillichapp Harbour 27/2/1942 Java with about 2,000 airmen evacuated from Java to Ceylon now called Sri Lanka". 62 Squadron Gallery |

"Pershawar 1943" Bill (Taffy) Belton is top left, a rare photograph of dad looking serious! Does anyone know who the other airmen are? 62 Squadron Gallery
